Invitations to join The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences was extended on the 25th of June 2018 to 928 new potential members with official tag #wearetheacademy.

Popularly known as ‘The Oscars’, the Academy Award is one of the most prestigious awards for artists and contributors who stand out to theatrical motion pictures (movies).

The list this year is a winning one for Africa and diversity in general with Indian, South Koreans, African Americans, Chinese, African and many more.

Popular Nigerian Actress, Singer, Activist and Entertainer, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, was on the list for the class of 2018. With numerous prestigious awards under her belt for her contributions in the Nigerian movie industry, she has been globally recognised by humanitarian works. In 2013, she made the list for Time 100 most influential people in the world. She is also a United Nations and Amnesty International Ambassador.




This invite is truly deserving for the dignified super star that is Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde. As a member of the Academy, she will get to take part in the voting process for the Academy Awards.
