Tracka is a community that is comprised of active citizens interested in tracking the implementation and progress of government projects in their local government in order to guarantee service delivery. BudgIT founded it in July 2014. Currently, Tracka covers 16 states of the Nigerian federation including Ogun, Imo, Cross River, Anambra, Lagos, Kaduna, Edo, and Kebbi.
Within the Tracka community, items on the budget line are simplified and developed into visuals, interactive applications, and infographics in order to enhance citizens’ understanding of the government’s projects in their community. The locations of projects are geotagged to guarantee perfect accuracy and to ensure that residents of the region can contribute with inputs.
Tracka is a social media platform. Hence they have an existing social media presence on Facebook, Twitter to share videos, photos, and documents. Grassroots are able to stay connected with capital projects such as hospitals, schools, roads in their neighborhoods through a smartphone.
