Women in Tech Africa (WiTA), founded by Ethel D Cofie, is an organization focused on entrepreneurship expansion and increasing the number of females in technology specifically in Africa. WiTa has focused strategically over the years on enabling women to drive the growth story of Africa and the impact on personal life through technology. Its current target audience consists of ambitious female tech entrepreneurs between the ages of 18-40. It is the largest group on the continent with membership spanning globally across 30 countries with physical chapters in Ghana, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Ireland, Germany, Somaliland, Tanzania, Kenya, and Mauritius.
WiTA major objectives include encouraging more numbers of women into technology and into taking up technological leadership positions; creating a channel for women to choose STEM careers and inspiring women into STEM entrepreneurial space. WiTA won the United Nations Equals Award for Leadership 2018. You can get first-hand updates on their Facebook and Twitter if you want to become one of their members, sponsors or partners. This is great news for young female entrepreneurs across the globe particularly in Africa.
